This page should help you from the beginning to the end of working your business.
This is one of the greatest money making programs that I've ever seen! If you work it you will make money!!! A consumer would be crazy not to do this because there is nothing for them to lose.
(THIS WILL BE REWORKED FOR DARKE DISCOUNT CARD) Who do you see? EVERYONE! Except big national corporations and of course non-profit organizations. But just because a business has a big national name doesn't mean that they are owned by that Corporation. Many are Franchises, which may be owned by local business people. You will need to ask to find out. But don't judge any business, we have seen small dumpy business that were part of another business and were paying tons of taxes. Don't forget: Farmers, Real Estate Agents, Insurance Agents, Multi Level Marketing People, Home Business etc... Get out your phone book, it will give you some great ideas.
Getting started. You can contact the business however you want, but the most successful way is to go introduce yourself to them. Be professional, prepared and persistent! You will succeed.
Make sure that you have a notebook to record what happened at each business. Trust me after a while it will be impossible to remember what each one told you or when you were suppose to get back with them. This way you can check your progress each day and recontact the businesses at a later date if the situation was not right the first time.
You can place ads in the paper. These work better after you have gotten your local paper to run the "News Release" from WIN about getting money back for the businesses.
You can call the businesses, check out the "Tax Refund Script" located in the forms section and in the downloads.
Making the Pitch.
This has been the most successful approach for most people:
Hello, my name is ____________ , I'm looking for the person who handles the accounting and taxes. (Usually you'll get a question like, What is this about?) Did you see the article in the paper about local businesses receiving money back? I am with the firm that is getting money back for local businesses. (Hand them a copy, shows great creditability, they may direct you to the person who handles the books or the owner. Either way it works great. But if you do talk to the person who handles the books, try to see the owner NOW! If you can't, then set up an appointment with the owner for another time.)
If you can explain the program to them now, DO IT! All we use to educate them is the ad and the Warning Page with the Shocking Truth on the back, we usually have this printed on Hi-Bright Yellow. This is all you need to help them see the truth. Just point out items that seem important to you. But I would qualify them first. Like:
Did you have a positive cash flow and pay taxes for the last 3 years? Are you currently being audited by the IRS? If this disqualifies them, tell them your sorry that you can't help them and to have a nice day. If they qualify, say, Great then you may have money just waiting for you!
This year the Government kept over $1.6 Billion of small business money! 7 out of every 10 businesses that we deal with, gets money back! The average refund is over $10,000! Understand, if we don't get anything back for you, this cost you nothing! If you don't file for this, you will lose this money, no exceptions! Explain about WIN and how they negotiated this great deal. How it use to cost $3,500 and all of those fees are now waived! State again: If you get nothing back, it cost you nothing. The “Amendment Specialist” eats all of those fees. What they now do is split what they get back for you. 50/50. (This is extremely fair! It’s a lot better than $3,500 up front knowing that 30% of the businesses get nothing back. It’s a lot better than doing nothing; otherwise the government keeps 100%, all of it! If you really look, they are still getting their $3,500! Average return $10,000 split it 50/50 and figure in 70% getting a refund: comes out to $3,500. But this way the business is not taking any risk and the “Amendment Specialist” is only paid if they get results. Plus if they want they can still pay the $3,500 up front. Then they will get 100% of their return, but remember that there is a 30% chance that they will get nothing back! No one has done this yet but I’m sure someone will sooner or later. On the Back: Point out Money magazine, Hypothetical tax returns to 30-50 top accountants and CPA,s Never get the same results! Varies from a low of 65% difference between the lowest and highest amount the accountants said that they owed, to the unbelievable 1,076% difference one year. Are Accountants and CPA's stupid? NO! It's because of the IRS!!! Read the whole Wall Street Journal section. You can really have fun with this. The IRS was bragging that they were incorrect only 50% of the time!!!!! What a JOKE!!! Let them know that this does not trigger audits. Inform them about our procedure, that the tax returns will be sealed in the government envelope there at their business, only to be opened at our "Tax Amendment Processing Center". And that if it is opened before it gets there that you are fired! (This is extremely important because of all of the identity theft that is going on today.)
If they do not have their taxes there at the office, Fill out the Forms NOW. If they have the tax returns, but the person who has to sign them is not there, have them copy the tax forms and pick them up later. Get what you can get when you can get it. I promise that it will make it easier when you stop back to get the rest. (just seal it in the envelope and put their name on it and list what you still need.)
If they do not have their tax returns and the returns are at the accountants or CPA's office, use the "Request Copies", from CPA or Accountant, letter (Also have them sign the IRS Form 8821, as a backup!!!). Get the forms filled out and signed, then you're done except for picking up the tax returns from the CPA or Accountant or just mailing in the IRS Form 8821 with the other forms. (This is a normal practice of picking up copies of tax returns, because there are dozens of reasons for someone to pick up a set of tax returns.) Most people in the beginning prefer not talking to the Accountant or CPA about what they are doing, so they don't have the CPA or Accountant calling and grilling the client. If the CPA or Accountant ask, just tell them that, (Sorry, I'm not at liberty to discuss the matter), (Sorry, I get fired for disclosing anything about clients), (Sorry, that's personal information), (Sorry, My job is just picking these up.) anything along these lines will work. Don't forget you really CAN NOT discuss anything about your client to anyone! It is bad business and also illegal.
Don't forget referrals: These are the easiest clients to pick up because you have a current client who told you to talk to them. My favorite referral questions are: Would you be ashamed if I showed this to some of your business friends? Who else do you think might qualify to get some money back? Since you've been so nice, do you have any business friends that you would like me to give priority attention to?
If they hesitate a little tell them this story:
We never realized how important referrals were. When our company first started we had a business owner who made us promise that we would see all of his friends right away, he even called them up to let them know that we were going to be stopping by and what it was about. When he was done he made us promise that we would not contact this one business, because he despised them. If they called us that was okay, but we could not contact them first. It really opened our eyes! By us not referring our friends when we found a great deal (not junk) we were doing to them what he was doing to his enemy!
So, which friends would you like to see get money back? Write them down, get names, addresses, phone numbers and directions if possible. You can also have them sign the "Referral Letter". You can take it with you when you go to see them or copy it and mail it to them.
Be sure to sign your name on the agreement. Once you have everything, put it in the envelope and seal it. You can mail it to our office daily or once a week, but do not hold any completed returns more than a week.
